NEW DELHI: Indian spinner Varun Chakaravarthy has come out in support of ten-year-old Ishit Bhatt, a contestant on Kaun Banega Crorepati 17, who faced a wave of criticism online for his perceived rude behaviour towards host Amitabh Bachchan. The child’s behaviour during the show sparked massive debates on social media.

Ishit, a fifth-standard student from Gujarat, grabbed attention for his impatient behaviour on the show. He eventually lost after giving a wrong answer and faced harsh criticism online.

Meanwhile, Varun Chakaravarthy criticised the online backlash and emphasised the importance of patience when dealing with children. Writing on X, he highlighted how social media has become a platform for unnecessary vitriol, saying, “Example of how social media has become a place for cowards running their mouths without any sense! He is a kid, for God’s sake!! Let him grow!!”

The incident raises larger questions about the treatment of minors on reality shows, where even innocent overconfidence or mistakes can quickly be turned into fodder for online outrage.

Chakaravarthy’s intervention serves as a reminder to approach such situations with patience and empathy.

By standing up for the kid, Chakaravarthy not only defended the child contestant but also highlighted the need for society to protect children from unwarranted criticism.
