West Indies cricket icon Chris Gayle, aka the “Universe Boss,” has been named the official Brand Ambassador of Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2025. The next edition of the tournament is scheduled to be held from July to August 2026, thus, the cricket fans can look forward to uninterrupted cricketing action after the completion of the major international series.
Gayle is a perfect brand for the LPL as his notorious power-hitting and flamboyant style of play will surely bring the glam and dazzle to the tournament off and on the field. The T20 legend, overwhelmed with joy, expressing his delight said the honour was all his to be part of the LPL and he admired the cricket-mad Sri Lankan fans for their constant support of the game. Additionally, he praised and appreciated the league for its perfect blend of sports and entertainment, regarding it as an important platform that not only provides fun for the players but also engages the fans.
Gayle holds a string of records in T20, such as the highest individual score of 175 and fastest century* in the format. Therefore, his arrival is talked about as a significant factor in elevating the tournament’s worldwide fanbase.
LPL Tournament Director Samantha Dodanwela was excited about the news of Gayle coming on board as a brand ambassador and she is confident his global appeal and charm will raise the league’s brand equity. Next year's edition will witness teams hailing from Colombo, Dambulla, Galle, Jaffna, and Kandy fighting it out for glory, promising a great competition full of international stars.
