NEW DELHI: English captain Ben Stokes has issued a clear message ahead of the third Ashes Test in Adelaide starting December 17. With England trailing 2-0 in the series, a win is crucial to keep their hopes alive.
Stokes stressed the importance of experience and mental readiness, saying players now know what to expect and must focus on execution rather than surprises.
Ashes at stake as England make bold call for Adelaide Test
“I remember my first tour here and trying to imagine what it would be like. Now everyone has experienced it at the highest level, and we know what to expect. For the next three games, there’s no excuse for being caught off guard,” he told media.
He also called on his team to fight for every moment and respond to the needs of the team with intensity.
“Above all, fight in every situation you find yourself in and understand what’s required for your team. Just look at your opposition every single time, and show a bit of dog. That’s fight, to me.”
England has struggled in the series so far. In Perth, they were completely outplayed by Travis Head and the Australian batting line-up.
In the second Test, despite a good first innings, they were again dominated by Australia. Weaknesses in both batting and bowling have been exposed, making Stokes’ call for fight and resilience vital as England looks to turn the tide in Adelaide.
