Australian all-rounder Cameron Green emerged as the biggest overseas attraction of the IPL auction as Kolkata Knight Riders secured his services for a staggering ₹25.20 crore, making him the most expensive overseas player in IPL history.

The bidding for the 26-year-old began with Mumbai Indians opening at a base price of ₹2 crore before Rajasthan Royals quickly raised it to ₹2.20 crore. Kolkata Knight Riders entered the fray at ₹2.60 crore, triggering an intense duel with Rajasthan that steadily pushed the price higher.
As the bidding crossed ₹5 crore and then surged past ₹9 crore, it became clear that Green was one of the marquee targets of the auction. With Rajasthan’s purse capped at ₹16.05 crore, the franchise eventually bowed out at ₹13.60 crore, leaving KKR in control, momentarily.
Chennai Super Kings soon entered the contest at ₹13.80 crore, setting up a high-stakes face-off with KKR. As the price climbed beyond ₹17 crore, the tension in the auction room intensified. KKR hesitated briefly at ₹19 crore before raising the paddle again at ₹19.20 crore.
The bidding crossed the ₹20 crore mark with neither franchise willing to back down. For CSK, landing Green would have meant the most expensive signing in their history. Despite briefly holding the bid at ₹25 crore, CSK ultimately withdrew at ₹25.20 crore.
KKR seized the moment, signing Cameron Green for ₹25.20 crore and surpassing Mitchell Starc’s record to make Green the most expensive overseas player ever in IPL history.
