The India vs Pakistan match has the cricketing world in its grasp. And still, there's a huge part of the Indian fans who want to boycott not only the premier matchup on Sunday, but also the whole of the Asia Cup.

And all of it stems from the Pahalgam Terror attack. On 22 April 2025, in Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, Pakistani terrorists murdered 26 civilians, mostly Hindu tourists, after separating the victims by religion. And this has led to people protesting against India playing Pakistan in the 2025 Asia Cup, only a few months after the incident, in the name of entertainment, and asking to boycott the match and the Asia Cup.

A user called for a boycott of the match, saying, "Entertainment is temporary, but our nation is forever. No match is bigger than the respect of our soldiers. So everyone boycott IND vs PAK Asia match. Jai hind."

Another fan asked his fellow countrymen to choose what was righteous by tweeting, "Country... or Cricket with Enemy? Choice is Ours." While another wrote a short plea to the BCCI, "Dear @BCCI stop turning patriotism into prime time advertising national pride isn't seasonal our soil deserves loyalty beyond ticket sales #BoycottAsiaCup"

One X user stated a reminder of the horrific Pahalgam terror attacks and asked for answers from BCCI and Jay Shah. He tweeted, "Pahalgam drenched in blood, soldiers martyred, civilians killed — yet BCCI pushes cricket with Pakistan? SHAME! Asia Cup isn’t above our martyrs. Jay Shah must answer the nation. Boycott India vs Pakistan cricket match! #BoycottAsiaCup #BoycottINDvPAK

"

Another user reasoned, saying that in the end the choice to boycott the match or not stays with the people, not BCCI. She tweeted, "Can we, as a nation, collectively boycott the India vs Pakistan match in the Asia Cup? If BCCI cannot do it, but as a nation we can Jay Hind"
With all the Boycott Asia Cup chants doing rounds on social media, one does wonder whether BCCI should step in and take action.
