The International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah has stated in his recent tweet on X that the upcoming Women’s World Cup, hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will take place from September 30 to November 2, 2025, and promises to be the biggest and best event for cricket fans.

Jay Shah tweeted, on his official social media handle, “The growth of women's cricket is extremely important to the @ICC and this edition of the ICC Women's @cricketworldcup played across India and Sri Lanka promises to be the biggest and best yet. Good luck to everyone involved.”

Jay Shah wished all the teams participating in the tournament good luck.

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur recently expressed that the experience of playing a World Cup on home soil is unmatched, and she hopes that the Women in Blue can make their fans proud, as India seeks to claim its first title in either white-ball format. Talking to JioStar ahead of India's first game against Sri Lanka on September 30 in Guwahati, Harmanpreet mentioned that it will be her fifth ODI World Cup, but that the factor of hosting the event in India adds more excitement. But she added that the team is focused on their enjoyment of the cricket, rather than allowing any expectations to weigh them down.

The captain also pointing out that players and fans alike are elated by the volume of cricket India has played over the last 18 months, which has provided the squad with the confidence to feel ready to take on the challenge ahead.

The ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 will take place from September 30 to November 2, with fixtures being played across DY Patil Stadium (Navi Mumbai), ACA Stadium (Guwahati), Holkar Stadium (Indore), ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam), and R Premadasa Stadium (Colombo-Sri Lanka) India, will face Sri Lanka in the first game of the tournament, and Defending champions Australia, will start their title defence the next day against New Zealand in Indore.
