NEW DELHI: India batter Shreyas Iyer found himself in an awkward situation after being mobbed by fans, which led to him losing his cool at the security personnel.

In a video that went viral on social media, Iyer appeared visibly unimpressed as the security staff, instead of keeping the crowd away, joined in and asked him for a selfie.

Their conduct left Iyer unhappy, prompting him to say, "Bhai, tumhara kaam hai hatana" (Brother, your job is to clear the crowd).

Iyer continues to remain on the sidelines after sustaining a spleen laceration during the ODI in Sydney against Australia last month. He is currently undergoing recovery and, according to sources, is expected to be out of action for at least four months.

The injury occurred when Iyer landed awkwardly while attempting a catch during Australia's innings. He was immediately taken off the field and did not return for the rest of the match. The Indian medical team rushed him to a hospital for further tests, where scans revealed internal bleeding and a ruptured spleen, necessitating urgent surgery.

India is also facing another major injury setback, with Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill ruled out due to a neck issue. Gill sustained the injury during the first Test against South Africa and subsequently missed the second match in Guwahati.
