NEW DELHI: Responding to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's remarks reaffirming his country's decision to skip the T20 World Cup group-stage match, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla said the Indian board would abide by whatever decision the ICC takes on the matter.

Shukla said to ANI, "BCCI has nothing to say on this (on Shehbaz's statement). ICC has to decide on this, and whatever ICC says, we will go according to that decision..."

The Pakistani PM on Wednesday reaffirmed his country's decision to boycott the T20 World Cup match against India, stating that Pakistan had taken a "clear stand" on the February 15 fixture scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka.

"We have taken a clear stand regarding the T20 World Cup that we will not play the match against India," Pakistan PM said while addressing the federal cabinet in Islamabad. Sharif added that they have decided to boycott the India match after careful assessment and called for an appropriate decision."There should be no politics in sports," he said. "We have taken this stand after deliberating on it carefully," he said, calling it an "appropriate decision".

A livid ICC has warned the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) of serious consequences if it fails to show up for the high-profile match, which is a money magnet at the big event for sponsors, broadcasters and advertisers.

The world body has hoped that the PCB will "consider the significant and long-term implications for cricket in its own country as this is likely to impact the global cricket ecosystem, which it is itself a member and beneficiary of."
