NEW DELHI: BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia shared that during the ICC Board meeting in Dubai, the BCCI received special congratulations from the Board of Directors for successfully hosting the Women's World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

The Indian women's team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, made history by defeating South Africa in the final in Navi Mumbai to clinch their first-ever ICC title.

"...they appreciated India's efforts...They congratulated India and South Africa (the two finalists) for their wonderful performances. The South African women's team was congratulated for three successive final appearances.

"It is now clear that South African women's team's graph is on the rise," said Saikia, who also attended the Financial & Commercial Affairs (F&CA) meeting as well as HR and Remuneration Committee meetings of the ICC.

India's historic triumph in the Women's ODI World Cup also set new benchmarks for cricket broadcasting in the country, with the official broadcaster reporting a total reach of 446 million on its digital platform during the tournament.

IND vs SA final draws massive audience

JioHotstar said in a statement on Friday that the Women's World Cup final was viewed by 185 million users on its platform.

The final's viewership surpassed the daily average reach of the Indian Premier League and matched the numbers recorded during last year's men's T20 World Cup final between India and South Africa.

Women's cricket reaches new heights

According to the broadcaster, the 446-million reach was "the highest ever for women's cricket and greater than the combined total of the last three Women's World Cups, marking an extraordinary milestone in the evolution of women's cricket viewership in India."
