NEW DELHI: Yograj Singh, father of legendary Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh and known for his outspoken remarks, has now accused Virat Kohli of being a 'backstabber'. Speaking to InsideSport, Yograj claimed that Sachin Tendulkar was the only true friend Yuvraj ever had.
When asked whether Kohli, as captain, could have supported Yuvraj in the latter stage of his career, Yograj lashed out at the former India skipper, claiming that players feared his son might take their place.
"As I told you, there are no friends in the sphere of success, money and glory. There were always backstabbers, people who wanted to put you down. People were scared of Yuvraj Singh because they were afraid where he would usurp their seats because he was such a great player created by the God Almighty. He has been the greatest of players, who were scared - right from MS Dhoni, everybody - 'oh he might take my chair," said Yograj.
Yograj had previously criticised MS Dhoni for allegedly cutting short his son's international career. He also claimed that players like Dhoni, Kapil Dev, and Bishan Singh Bedi mistreated team members during their tenures.
"I talk about Bishan Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev, MS Dhoni. I can talk about people whom I have been with. They have treated people like shit. Jo galat hai wo galat hai. Two wrongs cannot make one right. I say this openly, that our cricketers and team were destroyed by our captain."
