Babar Azam is going to be back in action in a very short T20I match with Pakistan and South Africa at the 1st T20I on Tuesday, October 28 at Rawalpindi. Ex-captain of Pakistan, the left-hand batter was out of the T20I squad after the selection of the team earlier this year, along with Rizwan, and therefore he did not appear in the 2025 Asia Cup matches, which Pakistan lost three times against India, including the final.
Babar Azam is on the verge of a historic milestone

The selectors after Pakistan's substandard performances have brought back Azam, who will be playing his first T20I of 2025. The right-handed batsman is just 9 runs away from becoming the highest run-scorer in T20I cricket, thus, surpassing Rohit Sharma, who ended his T20I career with 4,231 runs.
At the moment, Azam has collected 4,223 runs, which makes him the second-highest scorer of all-time T20I cricket. Virat Kohli is the closest follower to him who retired with 4,188 runs. So, with the next home series against South Africa, Azam will be the one to exceed Rohit and take the lead as the top T20I run-scorer.
After that, the T20I series will be in Rawalpindi, and then two games will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on October 31 and November 1. The two teams playing a three-match ODI series on November 4, 6, and 8 will follow the T20I series. Earlier, the two-test series between Pakistan and South Africa has been split 1-1.
