NEW DELHI: Australia will tour Pakistan for a three-match T20 International series in Lahore ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Wednesday.

All three day-night fixtures will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium, with matches scheduled for January 29, January 31 and February 1, before both sides depart for the global tournament.

During the World Cup, Australia will play their group-stage matches in India, while Pakistan will be stationed in Sri Lanka.

The upcoming series marks Australia's first T20 tour of Pakistan since April 2022, when they last visited the country for a Test series followed by limited-overs matches.

The Australian squad is scheduled to arrive in Lahore on January 28 ahead of the brief three-match series.

Although this will be their first T20 tour of Pakistan in several years, Australia did feature in the country during last year's Champions Trophy, playing a number of matches there.

Meanwhile, Pakistan's selection committee is set to hold discussions with head coach Mike Hesson and captain Salman Ali Agha later this week to finalise the squad for both the Australia series and the upcoming T20 World Cup.

The final squad is expected to be announced next week, pending approval from PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
