NEW DELHI: Arshdeep Singh may have played only one match in the Asia Cup, but the Indian pacer has dominated social media, grabbing headlines for his gesture, which was perceived as a savage reply to Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf's plane-crash gesture.
A video circulating on social media shows Arshdeep gesturing towards the crowd, mimicking an airplane with his hands and crashing it into his rear. Arshdeep's action came after the conclusion of the India vs Pakistan game in the Asia Cup Super Four stage in Dubai.

Rauf responded to jeers from Indian spectators by showing '6-0' with his fingers. The '6-0' signal was a reference to the Pakistani government's politically charged claims of downing six Indian fighter jets during Operation Sindoor. The pacer did not stop there; he went on to mimic the motion of a crashing plane.
The match also saw tense moments, with Indian batters and Pakistan pacers engaging in a war of words. A notable incident occurred between Abhishek Sharma and Haris Rauf, prompting the on-field umpires to step in and diffuse the situation.
After the game, Abhishek spoke openly about the on-field spat.
"Today was pretty simple, the way they were coming out to us without any reason, I did not like it at all. That's why I went after them. I wanted to deliver for the team. (on his stand with Gill) We have been playing since school days, we enjoy each other's company, we thought we would do it and today was the day. The way he was giving it back, I really enjoyed it. If you see someone playing like this, it's because the team supports me and they back me. That's the intent I show and I'm practicing really hard and if it's my day, I'm gonna win it for my team," he said at the post-match presentation.
