Arshdeep Singh was kept out of the first two games; eventually, he was brought back into the Indian playing XI for the 3rd T20I against Australia. To bring in some newness and experience into the pace attack, he went in place of Harshit Rana. His name was floated around India’s playing XI re-induction of the leading T20I wicket-taker who, as a left-arm bowler, is a valuable surprise for the opponent’s line-up, was the most logical thing to do.

On his return, Arshdeep was absolutely brilliant as he grabbed two wickets in only nine balls. The left-arm quick first cut down Travis Head and then shortly after, Josh Inglis was sent back to the dressing room. India thus took over the match completely. His hot short spell was like a loud, clear call to the management that he is the one they can’t afford to leave out in the cold.

Besides that, Jitesh Sharma came in for Sanju Samson after the latter’s disappointing performance in Melbourne. The management has also introduced Washington Sundar instead of Kuldeep Yadav which is a tactical decision to strengthen the lower-middle order and to have a balanced team both in batting and bowling.

As India is increasing their control over the current game, it seems to be ready to move ahead in the T20I series against Australia.
