Devdutt Padikkal’s golden run in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26 shows no signs of slowing down as the Karnataka opener continues to churn out big scores. On Saturday, the left-hander registered his fourth century in just five innings, further strengthening his case for an India ODI recall as the tournament gathers momentum.

Padikkal’s latest hundred came in a Group A clash against Tripura at the Narendra Modi Stadium on January 3. After Tripura opted to field first, Karnataka suffered an early collapse, losing Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair within the opening three overs to slip to 6 for 2. Once again, Padikkal rose to the occasion, providing stability at the top and steering the innings out of early trouble.
The 24-year-old has now surged past the 500-run mark in the competition, emerging as the tournament’s leading run-scorer. His numbers underline a remarkable blend of consistency and intent, with both his average and strike rate crossing the 100 mark. Padikkal has also struck 45 boundaries so far, showcasing his ability to score freely without compromising control.
With the BCCI set to announce India’s squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand, Padikkal’s purple patch has kept him firmly in the selection spotlight. For now, the Karnataka batter is sticking to a simple approach, piling on runs and letting his performances speak for themselves in India’s premier domestic one-day tournament.
