NEW DELHI: Seasoned Sneh Rana was well supported by young spinners Vaishnavi Sharma and Shree Charani as India once again held Sri Lanka to a below-par total of 128 for 9 in the second Women’s T20I on Tuesday. The last six wickets fell for just 24 runs.
Off-spinner Rana, who came into the side after Deepti Sharma was ruled out with a fever, showcased her control, finishing with figures of 1 for 11 in 4 overs, including a maiden – a rare feat in T20 cricket.

Charani and Vaishnavi Keep Pressure
Charani, who impressed during India’s ODI World Cup triumph, claimed 2 for 23, while Vaishnavi, following an impressive debut in the opening match, picked up 2 for 32, keeping the Sri Lankan batters from scoring freely.
Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu (31 off 24 balls) looked threatening early, hitting some length deliveries from seamers Kranti Gaud and Arundhati Reddy over the ropes. However, Rana’s accurate length bowling kept her in check.
Unable to find the big shots, Athapaththu mistimed a lofted attempt and was caught by Amanjot Kaur at long-off.
Athapaththu’s partner Vishmi Gunaratne (1) had earlier given a simple return catch to Gaud. Hasini Perera (22 off 28 balls) and Harshitha Samarawickrama (33 off 32 balls) added 44 for the third wicket but failed to accelerate.
Once Hasini offered a tame return catch off a Charani full-toss, Sri Lanka collapsed, losing wickets rapidly towards the end.
