NEW DELHI: India's domestic cricket witnessed a remarkable surge in explosive batting as multiple records were shattered on Wednesday across multiple venues on the opening day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, highlighted by the much-anticipated return of legends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Wednesday turned into an unprecedented run fest in Indian domestic cricket, with batters completely dominating across venues. The day witnessed as many as 22 centuries, a staggering 217 sixes, and 10 team totals in excess of 300. The scoring carnage went a step further with two scores crossing 400, and one historic 500-plus total, underlining the extraordinary nature of the day.

> At just 14 years and 272 days, Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest player to score a century in men's List A cricket. Representing Bihar against Arunachal Pradesh, he smashed a breathtaking 190 off 84 balls, an innings studded with 15 sixes and 16 fours. > Bihar's Sakibul Gani blazed his way to the fastest century by an Indian in men's List A cricket, reaching the milestone in just 32 balls. Jharkhand's Ishan Kishan followed closely with the second-fastest hundred, bringing it up in 33 deliveries against Karnataka.
