NEW DELHI: The era of casually smacking sixes at will in slam-bang T20 cricket may be fading, but what makes it tougher for bowlers is when a batter shifts into beast mode, completely dismantling their line and length.
A similar spectacle unfolded in the Caribbean Premier League 2025 clash between Guyana Amazon Warriors and St Lucia Kings, where Guyana's Romario Shepherd made a mockery of Oshane Thomas' bowling, plundering 22 runs off just one ball.
Shepherd launched a brutal assault on Thomas in the 15th over, starting with a boundary followed by three successive sixes. After conceding a four on the second ball, Thomas overstepped and then delivered a wide, which kept the Free Hit in play.

Shepherd capitalised, smashing two more no-ball deliveries for towering sixes on the leg side before punishing a legal ball with a colossal 95-metre maximum - taking the tally to 22 runs off a single legal delivery. Iftikhar Ahmed compounded the misery by finishing the over with another six, making it 33 runs in total.
Thomas eventually returned figures of 4-0-63-1—the most expensive spell ever by a Kings bowler in CPL history, surpassing Wahab Riaz's 3-0-61-0 from the 2021 edition.
However, Shepherd's onslaught was not enough to turn the game in Guyana's favour, as the Amazon Warriors eventually slumped to a four-wicket defeat. St Lucia Kings rode on a blistering knock from Ackeem Auguste, who played the match-winning hand with 73 off just 35 deliveries.
