Manchester City made a strong comeback after two back to back defeats in the Premier League 2025-26 campaign, as they defeated their arch rivals Manchester United Football Club, 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League game week 4. Phil Foden scored the first goal of the game, and the next two were scored by Erling Haaland.

Manchester City had the opportunity to get an early lead as Erling Haaland almost scored a goal in the 20th second of the game, but the shot attempt was wide. The star goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, of Manchester City, made his first save of the Premier League in the fourth minute of the game, as in the early half, it was looking like an even game.

In the 18th minute, the first goal of the game came from the head of Phil Foden, and it was a brilliant header from the English International. Jeremy Doku was the player to provide the assist, and Manchester City got the early goal and the lead.

Reijnders had the opportunity to provide the cushion to his side in the 24th minute, but Bayandir made a tremendous save to block the second goal of Manchester City. Both sides got multiple more chances to score in the first half, but ultimately the first 45 minutes of the game ended 1-0 in favour of the home side.

The second half of the game started a little slower than the first half, but Manchester City had control of the game, and in the 52nd minute, Erling Haaland brought the cushion for the home side as Bayandir had no chance of saving the little flick. The game was looking more and more impossible for the visiting side.

In the 61st minute, Manchester United had their first real attempt on goal from the left foot of Mbeumo, but Donnarumma made a tremendous save to deny the Cameroonian international. At the 68th minute, Haaland scored his second to make the scoreline 3-0. Bayandir had no chance to save this one. After the 3-0 trail, Manchester United tried their best to score at least one, but nothing was enough. Ultimately, they had to swallow a humiliating defeat at Etihad Stadium.
