Ngidi, Miller and Markram powers South Africa to victory

South Africa moves to the top of Group 2 after beating India by 5 wickets. Indian batters struggled against South Africa's fast bowling; Suryakumar Yadav was the lone warrior in the Indian batting line-up, and his counter-attacking batting helped India post a decent total. In the chase, David Miller and Aiden Markram both scored a half-century, helping South Africa win.

Lungi Ngidi rattled India's top order:-

Parnell started the inning with a maiden over. Rabada and Parnell were constantly beating the outside edge of the Indian openers. Rahul and Rohit each hit a six in Rabada and Parnell's over. India was 21-0 after four overs. Lungi Ngidi removed Rohit Sharma on the second ball of his over. He struck again in the same over, this time getting KL Rahul. In the seventh over, Virat Kohli hit Ngidi for two boundaries across covers and mid-wicket, but he was also out after one ball.

Suryakumar Yadav Show:-

Suryakumar Yadav batted brilliantly against South Africa's pacers, who were in excellent form. Suryakumar hammered Nortje for a six in the tenth over. He then took on Maharaj and hammered him for four and six in his two overs. Temba Bavuma brought Ngidi back into the attack, and Suryakumar welcomed him with a six and a four to complete his 30-ball 50. In the 17th over, he smacked Maharaj for two fours. He tried to get India to 150 runs but was dismissed in the 19th over, as India only managed to score 133/9 in 20 overs.

Early blows from Indian pacers:-

Arshdeep dismissed inform batsmen Quinton de Kock and Rilee Rossouw in the same over to hinder South Africa's chase, and Mohammad Shami removed Temba Bavuma in the final over to restrict South Africa to 24-3 in the powerplay. After the powerplay, Indian bowlers didn't give up many runs, and South Africa were 40-3 after 10 overs.

Markram, Miller partnership:-

After the refreshments break, Aiden Markram and David Miller switched gears. They hit three fours off Hardik Pandya's over and scored 16 runs. Kohli dropped Markram at deep midwicket, and Rohit missed a simple runout chance an over later, giving Markram another chance. In the 14th over, both hitters blasted Ashwin for two sixes. Hardik Pandya dismissed Markram for 52, ending the 76-run partnership, but Miller continued to put Indian bowlers under pressure. He blasted Ashwin for two consecutive sixes in the 18th over and reached his half-century with a four on the first ball of the 19th over. In the final over, he smashed two consecutive fours and finished South Africa's chase with two balls remaining.
