Munsey, bowlers scripted big win for Scotland against West Indies

Scotland defeats two-time T20 World Cup champions West Indies by 42 runs. George Munsey's 66 off 53 balls helped Scotland to post 160 runs on the scoreboard, and then their bowlers destroyed the West Indies batting order and bowled them out for 118 runs

Munsey, Jones strong start in the powerplay

After winning the toss, West Indies chose to put Scotland in to bat first. Michael Jones and George Munsey got Scotland's innings off to a strong start. In the power play, they were able to score 54 runs. Munsey hit three boundaries each against Kyle Mayers and Alzarri Joseph in the third and fourth overs.

Munsey holds on for Scotland despite Holder's slowing down the game

Following the powerplay, Holder eliminated Michael Jones and Matthew Cross, which caused difficulty for Scotland. In the 14th over, Calum MacLeod hit Obed McCoy for two fours, but an over later, Odean Smith got his wicket on 23(14). Munsey achieved the milestone of his first T20 World Cup fifty. After 19 overs, Scotland had a score of 145 for 5, but Munsey hit four boundaries in the final over to set a target of 160 runs.

West Indies top order made a strong start in the chase

After just one run came from the first over, Mayers blasted two boundaries in the second over, followed by a boundary and a six in the third over before being removed by Davey on 20 (13). Evin Lewis and Brandon King kept the pace going, scoring 33 runs in the next three overs. Brad Wheal got the wicket of Lewis, and the West Indies were 53 for 2 after the powerplay.

Scotland spinners seized control

West Indies were struggling to get runs after Watt dismissed Brandon King and Leask dismissed Pooran and Rovman Powell. Holder was the only West Indian batter to target Scotland's bowlers, but his efforts were futile as the West Indies were bowled out for 118 runs and Scotland won the match by 42 runs.
