The 33rd match of the ongoing T20 World Cup was played between England and New Zealand at Gabba, Brisbane on Tuesday. England clinched the victory over the Blackcaps.

Jos Buttler played a brilliant captain's knock and helped his team to post a safe total. He was also adjudged as player of the match. New Zealand and England are placed in the 1st and 2nd position respectively in the points table.

Australia will now have to win with a huge margin against Afghanistan on November 4 and pray for England's loss against Sri Lanka to fancy their chances for the top four.

England after winning the toss and elected to bat first and had a great start to their inning as they scored 81 runs in the 10.2 overs with Alex Hales scoring 52 runs in 40 balls.

Skipper Jos Buttler then showed his class and scored 73 runs in 47 balls with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes.

The rest of the England batters failed to create any impact as Moeen Ali scored 5 runs, Liam Livingstone (20), Harry Brook (7), and Ben Stokes departed for just 8 runs. England somehow managed to post a total of 179/6 in their 20 overs.

Chasing the target, Kane Williamson led New Zealand had a poor start to their inning as Finn Allen was dismissed for 16 runs followed by Devon Conway's dismissal for just 3 runs.

Skipper Williamson looked struggling in the middle and departed soon after scoring tough 40 runs in 40 balls. Glenn Phillips was the lone hope for the Kiwis but fell prey to the pressure created by the required run rate in the 18th over.

He scored 62 runs in just 36 balls with the help of 4 fours and 3 sixes. Chris Woakes and Sam Curran took 2 wickets each with Mark Wood and Ben Stokes getting a single wicket each.

New Zealand managed to score 159/6 in their 20 overs as England registered a convincing 20-run victory.
