Dhananjaya de Silva was the star for the winning side who scored unbeaten 66 runs in 42 balls with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes. Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan took 2 wickets each for Afghanistan.

Afghanistan after winning the toss elected to bat first and put up a total of 144/8 in their 20 overs. With the score being 90/2 at once, the Afghans were in a great position to set up a huge total but were restricted by some great bowling performances from the Lankans. They took 6 wickets for just 54 runs towards the back end of the innings.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the highest run-getter for his side who scored 28 runs with Usman Ghani scoring 27 runs. Wanindu Hasaranga was magnificent with the ball as he took 3 wickets for just 13 runs in his quota of four overs.

He was adjudged as player of the match for his remarkable bowling performance. Sri Lanka have grabbed the 3rd spot in Group 1 when it comes to the points table with 4 points.

New Zealand still tops the group with 5 points followed by England and Australia placed at 2nd and 3rd position respectively with a similar amount of points.
