England beat Pakistan by 5 wickets to clinch their 2nd World T20 title

The final of the T20 World Cup was played between England and Pakistan on Sunday at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. England skipper Jos Buttler elected to bowl first after winning the toss.

Pakistan posted a total of 137/8 in their 20 overs after batting first. England quite easily scored 138/5 in their 19 overs to clinch a 5-wicket victory in the finals. With this win over Pakistan, England took their revenge of the 1992 World Cup final revenge.

After being put into bat first, Pakistan had a poor start to their inning as the opener Mohammad Rizwan once again departed cheaply. He was dismissed in the 5th over for 15 runs in 14 balls.

They lost their 2nd wicket in the 8th over when Mohammad Haris was dismissed for 8 runs in 10 balls. The men in green looked struggling at 68 runs for 2 wickets after 10 overs.

Pakistan lost their 3rd wicket when skipper Babar Azam was dismissed in the 12th over for 32 runs in 28 balls followed by Iftikhar Ahmed's dismissal in the very next over who departed for 0 as their 4th wicket.

Shan Masood looked brilliant for his 38 runs in 28 balls before getting dismissed in the 17th over. Mohammad Wasim jr was dismissed in the last over for 4 runs. Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf remained unbeaten on 5 and 1 run respectively.

Sam Curran took 3 wickets whereas Adil Rashid and Chris Jordan picked up 2 wickets each with Ben Stokes getting a single wicket as well for England.

Chasing the target, England also had a horrible start to their inning as they lost the in-form opener, Alex Hales, in the 1st over for 1 run in 2 balls. Captain Jos Buttler and Phil Salt put up a 25-run partnership for the 2nd wicket before the latter was dismissed in the 4th over for 10 runs in 9 balls.

England lost their 3rd wicket in the last over of the powerplay when skipper Buttler departed for 26 runs in 17 balls. England were 77/3 after 10 overs and they needed 61 more runs in the next 10 overs.

Ben Stokes alongside Harry Brook put up a 39-run stand for the 4th wicket. England lost their 4th wicket in the 13th over when Brook was dismissed for 20 runs in 23 balls. Shaheen Afridi came out to bowl the 16th over and looked in some discomfort after bowling the 1st ball.

Iftikhar Ahmed had to complete his over instead and gave away 13 runs in the remaining 5 balls. Moeen Ali smashed two boundaries in the first two balls of the 17th over as England collected 16 runs out of that over.

They lost their 5th wicket in the 19th over as Ali departed for 19 runs in 12 balls. Ben Stokes remained unbeaten on 52 runs in 49 balls with Liam Livingstone alongside on 1 run.

Haris Rauf took 2 wickets with Shaheen, Wasim jr, and Shadab Khan getting a single wicket each.
