Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur gave the Wankhede crowd one of the most entertaining moments of the MI vs RR game on Sunday. Rajasthan Royals were trying to push beyond 200 in a must win match for their playoff hopes, while Mumbai Indians, already out of the tournament, were looking to finish their home season strongly.
Jadeja had come in late as RR's Impact Player, and Shardul had the ball for the final over. For a few seconds, it looked like Shardul had won the contest. Then the no-ball siren went off, Jadeja turned back, and the whole thing became a friendly exchange that had both camps smiling.
Shardul Thakur thinks he has Ravindra Jadeja
The moment came on the fourth ball of the 20th over. Shardul bowled a slower delivery outside off, and Jadeja tried to hit it through the off side. He could not get the timing right, and the ball went straight to the fielder at cover.
Shardul celebrated immediately. He pumped his fist, smiled in Jadeja's direction and looked delighted with the wicket. The MI players also began to gather around him, thinking Rajasthan had lost another batter at the death.
Jadeja had already started walking back towards the dugout. But before the celebration could settle, the no-ball siren sounded inside Wankhede. Shardul had overstepped, and the wicket was cancelled.
That changed the whole mood. Jadeja stopped, turned back, smiled, and copied Shardul’s celebration right back at him. He pumped his fists and gave a playful reaction towards the bowler. The players nearby could not hide their laughter.
Ravindra Jadeja makes the free hit count
The no ball also gave Rajasthan a free hit, and Jadeja made full use of it. Shardul tried to go short and slow on leg stump, but Jadeja was ready. He pulled it flat towards deep midwicket for four, taking Rajasthan past the 200-run mark.
The next ball also went to the boundary. Shardul offered width outside off, and Jadeja cut it hard through cover point. After hitting the second four, Jadeja again had a few words with Shardul and pumped the air in celebration.
Shardul took it in good spirit. He was seen smiling after the exchange, while Rohit Sharma and a few MI fielders also appeared amused. The Rajasthan dugout enjoyed it too, with the late-over drama giving them both runs and a light moment in a high-pressure game.
The sequence had everything: a catch, an early celebration, a no-ball siren, a copied celebration, and then back-toback boundaries. It was a small passage of play, but it quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the innings.

MI collapse early in 206 chase as RR take control at Wankhede
Mumbai Indians' chase of 206 has started in chaotic fashion at the Wankhede Stadium, with Rajasthan Royals striking three times inside the first three overs to take firm control of a match that could seal their IPL 2026 playoff spot. RR had earlier posted a strong 205/8 in 20 overs through a series of quick, useful contributions rather than one huge individual innings.
Yashasvi Jaiswal gave them early momentum with 27 off 17 balls, Dhruv Jurel steadied the middle overs with 38 off 26, Dasun Shanaka added a sharp 29 off 15, and Jofra Archer's 32 off 15 gave the innings late power before Ravindra Jadeja's unbeaten 19 off 11 pushed them beyond the 200-mark. For MI, Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar picked up two wickets each but both proved expensive, while Will Jacks stood out with a tidy 1/12 from two overs.
In reply, Mumbai lost Rohit Sharma for a duck to Jofra Archer in the opening over, Ryan Rickelton fell after a brief 12-run burst, and Naman Dhir also departed for 6, leaving MI reeling at 24/3 after three overs. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma are now in the middle with a huge task ahead, as Mumbai need 182 more runs from 17 overs at a required rate of 10.71.
