West Indies announces ODI squad for the series against India

After losing the ODI series against Bangladesh by 3-0, West Indies is ready to face India in a 3-match ODI series. West Indies have recalled their senior all-rounder Jason Holder who has been rested from the recently concluded Bangladesh ODI series. 

"As we all know Jason is one of the leading all-round cricketers in the world and we're happy to have him back in the team. He will be refreshed, re-energized and ready to go and we can expect to see his brilliance on the field as well as meaningful contributions off the field as well. - West Indies chief selector Desmond Haynes.

Bowling all-rounder Romario Shepherd and fast bowler Anderson Phillip have been left out of the squad after their poor performance in the Bangladesh ODI series. Left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie has retained his spot in the team after his remarkable performances in the Bangladesh series. 

West Indies has been in poor form this year, winning just four matches out of 15 they have played. They won three matches against the Netherlands and one against Ireland. 

"We had a very challenging three matches against Bangladesh in Guyana so we will be looking to rebound when we face India in the conditions in Trinidad. We have seen some growth among some players, but overall we need to regroup and play better against the  Indians."- Desmond said.

Nicholas Pooran (C), Shai Hope (VC), Shamarh Brooks, Keacy Carts, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Brandon King, Kyle Mayers, Gudakesh Motie, Keemo Paul, Rovman Powell, Jayden Seales 

On the other side, India is coming off a successful white ball tour against England. They have won the T20I and ODI series both by 2-1. India has rested their few big players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya will not play the ODI series which will start on 22 July at Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad.
