T20 cricket is all about scoring boundaries. IPL is known for its entertainment and fans enjoy 2 months of nonstop T20 cricket. Batters hit big sixes all around the ground and conditions help the batsmen to clear the boundaries easily.

Some batsmen hit so many sixes in one inning and entertain their fans thoroughly. Here are the top 5 batters with the most sixes in an IPL inning.

5. AB de Villiers - 12 sixes

AB de Villiers stands in 5th place in terms of hitting the most sixes in an IPL inning. On 14 may 2016 a match was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Lions. RCB batted first in that match and scored 248 runs in the 20 overs. AB de Villiers scored unbeaten 129 runs off 52 balls. He smashed 12 sixes during his outstanding innings.

Chasing the big target of 249 runs Gujarat team got all out on 104. AB de Villiers was named Man of the Match for his brilliant knock. De Villiers played a total of 169 matches in IPL and in which he scored 4697 runs with an average of 38.82 and strike rate of 154.10.

4. Chris Gayle - 12 sixes

On 6 may 2015 a match was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab. Chris Gayle scored 117 runs off 57 balls in that match. Universe boss hit 12 sixes and 7 fours in that match.

RCB scored 226 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the 20 overs. Kings XI Punjab failed to chase down this target and got all out on 88 runs. Chris Gayle played a total of 142 matches in IPL and he scored 4965 runs with an average of 39.72 and a strike rate of 148.96.

3. Chris Gayle - 13 sixes

On 17 may 2012 Chris Gayle scored 128 runs off 62 balls for RCB playing against Delhi Daredevils. He hit 13 sixes and 7 fours in that match.  RCB scored 215 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 20 overs. 

In reply Delhi team only managed to score 194 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Chris Gayle holds the record of hitting most sixes in IPL history. He smashed 357 sixes in 142 IPL matches.

2. Brendon McCullum - 13 sixes

On 8 April 2008, a match was played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. This was the first match of the Indian Premier League. 

McCullum played a memorable knock and scored 158 runs off 73 balls. He smashed 13 sixes and 10 fours in that match. KKR scored 222 runs in that match. In reply, RCB team got all out on 82. KKR won that match by 140 runs. Brendon McCullum was named Man of the match.

1. Chris Gayle - 17 sixes

On 23 April 2013, Chris Gayle played the biggest innings of IPL history. He scored 175 runs off 66 balls during his magnificent innings. Playing for RCB he smashed 17 sixes in that match against Pune Warriors. He holds the record of hitting most sixes in an innings.

RCB scored 263 runs in the 20 overs. Chasing this target Pune Warriors only managed to score 133 runs and RCB won that match by 130 runs.
