Shreyas, Kishan stars as men in blue takes the 2nd ODI by 7 wickets

India have registered a brilliant comeback in the series as they beat South Africa by 7 wickets in the 2nd ODI. The ODI series is leveled at 1-1 with a game to go which will be played on Tuesday in Delhi.

South Africa elected to bat first after winning the toss and had a poor start to their inning as they lost opener Quinton de Kock for just 5 runs in the 3rd over. The hosts recovered well as they put up a 33-run stand for the 2nd wicket before Janneman Malan was dismissed by debutant Shahbaz Ahmed.

Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram then took the charge and started building the partnership without taking further risks. Both were playing amazing shots as they reached their respective half-centuries.

They went on to put up a 129-run partnership for the 3rd wicket before Hendricks was undone by Mohammad Siraj in the 32nd over. Heinrich Klaasen contributed with quick-made 30 runs before falling prey to Kuldeep Yadav in 38th over followed by Markram's dismissal for 79 runs in the very next over.

David Miller and Wayne Parnell added handy contributions as South Africa posted a total of 278/7 in their 50 overs. Siraj was the standout bowler for the men in blue as he took 3 wickets in his 10 overs. The rest of the five bowlers supported well and four of them took a single wicket each.

Chasing the target, India once again lost skipper Shikhar Dhawan early as he departed for 13 runs in the 6th over. Shubman Gill smashed impressive boundaries and looked good but was dismissed for 28 runs.

Ishan Kishan and inform Shreyas Iyer then started building a partnership as they were getting easy runs. Kishan was dealing in sixes and Iyer on the other hand was spot on with his continuous strike rotations.

Both went on to reach their respective half-centuries as South African bowlers looked clueless against the Indian duo. Kishan, unfortunately, missed out on his century as he was dismissed for 93 runs by Bjorn Fortuin in the 35th over.

Shreyas continued his focus on the run chase and scored the 2nd century of his ODI career. He added another 73 runs with Sanju Samson and ensured a 7-wicket victory for his side. Iyer remained unbeaten 113 runs with Samson scoring unbeaten 30 runs as India have leveled the 3-match series 1-1.

Fortuin, Parnell, and Rabada took a single wicket each for the visitors but couldn't resist the heavy loss. Shreyas Iyer for his remarkable inning was adjudged as player of the match as he smashed 15 fours in his match-winning innings.

The 3rd and last ODI will be played on Tuesday in Delhi where both teams will look to clinch the series.
