Indian wicketkeeper Taniya Bhatia slams ECB for bizarre security arrangements at team hotel in London

Indian women's cricket team wicketkeeper Taniya Bhatia has been robbed in the London team hotel during her stay for the bilateral series against England recently.

Taniya Bhatia who was part of the Indian team for the England tour shared the unfortunate incident and claimed of burglary through her Twitter account.

The tour finished on an exciting note for the visitors as they white-washed the hosts 3-0 in the ODI series after losing the T2OI series.

However, the third and final ODI at Lord's had a controversial end when India's Deepti Sharma ran out Charlotte Dean at the non-striker's end when the latter was way outside the crease before the ball was bowled.

The Indian wicketkeeper batter claimed that her belongings were stolen from her hotel room. Bhatia was upset with the security arrangements at the hotel. The Indian wicketkeeper lashes out at ECB and has expressed her anger regarding the incident.

"Shocked and disappointed at Marriot Hotel London Maida Vale management; someone walked into my personal room and stole my bag with cash, cards, watches and jewellery during my recent stay as a part of the Indian Women's Cricket team. @MarriottBonvoy @Marriott So unsafe."

"Hoping for a quick investigation and resolution of this matter. Such lack of security at @ECB_cricket's preferred hotel partner is astounding. Hope they will take cognisance as well. @Marriott @BCCIWomen @BCCI."

The hotel however replied through their official account to the cricketer’s tweets and asked her for the details to investigate the matter. Their tweet read- "Hi Taniyaa, we are sorry to hear this. Please DM us your name and the email address you made the reservation with and the exact dates of your stay, so we can look into this further."

It will be interesting and concerning to see how the situation progresses. The England Cricket Board on the other hand have not reacted or stated anything regarding the incident.

The wicketkeeper-batter didn't feature in any of the matches on England tour but was part of the indian squad.
