Harmanpreet Kaur ruled out of WBBL with a back injury

Indian batter and Melbourne Renegades allrounder Harmanpreet Kaur has been ruled out of the ongoing Women's Big Bash season with a back injury. Harmanpreet had already missed the opening two matches against Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat as she led India to its seventh Women's Asia Cup triumph in Bangladesh.

For the first two matches, England batter Eve Jones was signed as an overseas replacement player. Renegades have played two games so far this season, winning one of them. Their next game is on Friday against Brisbane.

"Harmanpreet was fantastic for us last season and we were looking forward to having her as part of our squad again this year, but unfortunately she has been ruled out through injury. Eve will stay on with our squad for at least the next couple of matches, as we work through the best strategy for our squad for the remainder of the tournament. " - James Rosengarten, Melbourne Renegades General Manager.

Harmanpreet Kaur was named player of the tournament last season after scoring 406 runs at a strike rate of 130.96 and taking 15 wickets in 13 games.
