England won the 3rd T20I by 17 runs despite Suryakumar's heroic ton

India have won the T2OI series 2-1 against England. The hosts managed a consolation win at Trent Bridge, Nottingham in the 3rd T20I which they won by 17 runs. England while batting first posted a mammoth total of 215/7 in their 20 Overs after winning the toss. They had a better start to their inning as compared to the other two matches. Dawid Malan and Livingstone made it tough in the middle for the Indian bowlers and kept the scoreboard running rapidly. Malan went on to score a half-century but was dismissed on 77 whereas Livingstone remained unbeaten on 42 and took the team total past the 200-run mark with a little contributions from Harry Brook and Chris Jordan. Ravi Bishnoi and Harshal Patel were the standout bowlers for India with 2 wickets each even though they didn't get any support from the other bowlers who all went for big runs.

Chasing the target, India had an awful start as they lost the opener, Rishabh Pant, with just 2 runs on the board in just 2nd over of the inning. Both Virat and Rohit couldn't do much and were again dismissed cheaply. The visitors were struggling at 31/3 in the 5th over before Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav put up a 119-run stand for the 4th wicket. A partnership which at a moment was looking to promise a victory for them was broken in the 16th over when Shreyas departed for 28 runs. Suryakumar, however, shifted his gears to remarkable power hitting and went on to score his maiden T2OI century in just 48 deliveries. India at once needed 41 off 12 with wickets tumbling at the other end. Suryakumar lashed on to the 19th over and hit 16 runs in the first four balls of Moeen Ali's over but was dismissed in the 5th ball after playing an extraordinary 117-run knock. India needed 21 runs to win in the last over which was bowled by Chris Jordan who was too good for the tailenders.

The men in blue fell short of just 17 runs but won the T2OI series 2-1. Reece Topley took 3 wickets for just 22 runs in his quota of 4 overs and was adjudged as player of the match for his performance. He was well supported by David Willey and Chris Jordan as they both found 2 scalps each. Moeen Ali and Richard Gleeson also got one wicket each. Despite not being part of the 3rd match, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was adjudged as player of the series. He took 4 wickets in 2 matches with a magnificent average of 6.25 and troubled the English batters in both the games he played. Both teams will face off in a 3-match ODI series starting from July 12 in Oval, London.
