England announces squads for the T20 World Cup and Pakistan Tour

Ben Stokes returns to the England T20I team for the T20 World Cup which will be played in Australia next month. Stokes last played a T20I in march 2021. Jonny Bairstow has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to a freak golf injury. His replacement hasn't been announced yet.

Jason Roy misses out from the squad, Lancashire's opening batter Phil Salt replaces him in the squad. Chris Woakes and Mark Wood recovered from their injuries and have been included in both squads. Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes and Mark Wood have not played a single T20 match this year.

Chris Jordan and Liam Livingstone also misses out from the Pakistan series as both are injured and recovering from their respective injuries but both are expected to be fit for the T20 World Cup. England captain Jos Buttler will miss the first few matches of the Pakistan series as he is recovering from his calf injury, Moeen Ali will lead the side in his absence.

Liam Dawson, Richard Gleeson and Tymal Mills are the three traveling reserves for the T20 World Cup, of which Liam Dawson and Richard Gleeson will travel to Pakistan for the T20I series. Tom Helm who plays for Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred and Will Jacks who plays for Oval Invincibles also included in the squad after their impressive performance in the tournament.
