Alex Davies and Ross Whiteley helped Southern Brave to beat Trent Rockets by 6 wickets and keep their playoff hopes alive. After not getting a good start from the top 3 Davies and Whiteley's partnership helped Southern Brave to chase the target in 95 balls with a great cameo from Tim David at the end.

Davies and Whiteley keep Southern Brave playoff hopes alive

Alex Davies and Ross Whiteley helped Southern Brave to beat Trent Rockets by 6 wickets and keep their playoff hopes alive. After not getting a good start from the top 3 Davies and Whiteley's partnership helped Southern Brave to chase the target in 95 balls with a great cameo from Tim David at the end.

As it happened:- 

Southern Brave won the toss and opted to bowl first at The Rose Bowl, Southampton. Trent Rockets lost their first wicket on 17 runs when opener Alex Hales got out on 8(7). Hales was Paul Stirling's first wicket of the season. Malan was batting well but wickets kept falling from another end as Tom Kohler-Cadmore got out on 8(12). 

Malan scored his third half-century of the season and also became the first person to score 300 runs in the tournament. Samit Patel and Dawid Malan's partnership helped the Rockets to score 138 in their 100 balls.

James Fuller and Michael Hogan took two wickets each for Southern Brave while Jake Lintott was expensive with the ball, he gave 48 runs in 20 balls and took one wicket.

Chasing the target, Southern Brave didn't start their innings well as they lost their opener Paul Stirling on 8 runs. Sam Cook dismissed Stirling on 0. Captain James Vince was the second Southern Brave batsman who got out on 0, he was dismissed by Luke wood. Quinton De Kock and Alex Davies put Southern Brave innings back on track before De Kock got out on 24(23). Both were finding it tough to hit the boundaries. 

Ross Whiteley and Alex Davies' 71 runs partnership helped Brave to close down on the target. Alex Davies scored 51*(43) and Ross Whiteley scored 30(21). Sam Cook dismissed Whiteley on 30. With 16 needed in 11 balls, Tim David came out to bat and took Southern Brave over the line. He smashed wood for two sixes and scored a boundary to chase the target in 95 balls. Alex Davies was named Man of the match for his brilliant performance with the bat.
