Cricket Australia has announced a 14-men ODI squad for their upcoming home series against Zimbabwe and New Zealand. Spinner Adam Zampa returns to the squad from paternity leave, Zampa missed the Sri Lanka tour due to the birth of his first child.
Test skipper Pat Cummins has been rested from both series to manage his workload as Australia will play the T20 World Cup at home and five Test matches against West Indies and South Africa after that they will tour India for the Test Series.
Travis Head will also miss both the series against Zimbabwe and New Zealand as he is expecting the birth of his first child. Sean Abbott returns to the squad after missing the entire tour of Sri Lanka due to a broken finger. Marcus Stoinis and Ashton Agar both will be back in the team after missing out on the Sri Lanka tour due to side strain.
Mitchell Swepson, Josh Inglis, Matthew Kuhnemann and Jhye Richardson who all were part of the Sri Lanka series have been left out of the team. Australia will face Zimbabwe in a 3-match ODI series from August 28 and New Zealand from September 6. Australia is currently on the eighth position in the ICC ODI Super League table with 70 points in 12 matches.
